20/09/2007 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday 20 September, the European Commission cleared the planned acquisition of Spanish company Ecotecnica (Societa Cooperativa Catalana Limitada) by ALSTOM Espana IB, S.L., a subsidiary of French company ALSTOM S.A., itself controlled by the Bouygues group (construction, telecoms and media). ALSTOM manufactures equipment and provides services in the energy generation and rail transport industries. Ecotecnica is active in the wind-farm infrastructure industry and solar energy panels. The Commission's investigation showed that the planned deal would not significantly damage competition in the common market. The deal was examined using the simplified procedure.
