Strasbourg session agenda (18-21 June)

Brussels, 14/06/2007 (Agence Europe) - Although it comes before a very important European Council, with regard to the political and institutional future of the Union, the European Parliament's plenary session next week (18-21 June) in Strasbourg will be exclusively dominated by technical dossiers. On the other hand, a special “mini” plenary session has been programmed for Wednesday 27 June in Brussels during which the Council and Commission will inform MEPs about the results of the summit. The detailed session agenda for next week is as follows:

Monday 18 June (from 17: 00): report by Horst Schnellhardt on spirit drinks labelling; - report by Gunnar Hökmark on European broadband policy; - common discussion on Community statistical programme 2008/2012 (report by Zsolt Laszlo Becsey) and on the verification of data provided by member states (oral question); - report by Elisa Ferreira on competition policy 2005; - report by Godelieve Quisthoudt-Rowohl on the economic and trade relations between the EU and Russia; - report by Eva-Britt Svensson on cat and dog fur; - report by Struan Stevenson on the production of fishmeal and fish oil.

Tuesday 19 June (from 9: 00): - report by Diana Wallis on “Equitable Life”; - report by Marie Panayotoupolos-Cassiotou on reconciling family life with study periods for young women in the EU; - report by Arlène McCarthy on the application of legislation on public procurement and its relationship to the Lisbon strategy; - report by Jean-Claude Fruteau on review procedures concerning the award of public contracts; - oral question from Arlène McCarthy on derogations to internal market rules for defence procurement; - report by Dimitrios Papadimoulis on the banning of exports of metallic mercury; - votes at midday; - (possibly) report by Glenys Kinnock on the Millennium Development Objectives; - report by Thierry Cornillet on the work of the Joint ACP/EU Assembly.
