Brussels, 14/06/2007 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday, on the fringe of the Agriculture Council in Luxembourg, Christine Lagarde, French agriculture minister, gave her assurance that 14 member states of the European Union - Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Spain, Finland, France, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Ireland, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Poland and Portugal - have undertaken to support France's resolve on the agricultural chapter of Doha negotiations. At Ms Lagarde's request, the ministers from these countries met on Tuesday within a group called the “G14” to prepare Doha Round commitments. The above 14 member states were able to convene an extraordinary meeting at EU trade minister level on 25 June in Luxembourg to take stock of the results of the ministerial meeting of the G4 (Union, United States, Brazil and India) scheduled for 19-22 June in Potsdam.
