Luxembourg, 11/06/2007 (Agence Europe) - On Monday 11 June in Luxembourg, the Agriculture Council confirmed its political agreement on the regulation merging the 21 existing common market organisations (CMO) into one text (EUROPE 9436). The single CMO will enter into force on 1 January 2008, with the exception of cereals, seeds, hops, olive oil and table olives, linseed and hemp, raw tobacco, bovine, bovine and caprine meat and eggs and poultry meat, sectors for which the deadline has been set at 1 July 2008. The public intervention regime for pork meat remains in place and guarantees have been provided to avoid a drop in the quality of expertise within a single management committee. (lc)
