Battle in Heiligendamm between Germany and USA will be tough when it comes to finding common ground in fight against climate change beyond 2012

Brussels, 31/05/2007 (Agence Europe) - The hopes of the German presidency to rally the most industrial countries on earth into supporting the ambitious targets in fighting global warming beyond 2012 are getting slimmer as the G8 summit in Heiligendamm approaches (6-8 June). Emerging countries with strong economic growth are also attending the summit.

The ferocious opposition from the USA to binding objectives on reducing their greenhouse gas emissions was confirmed on 30 May in Potsdam...
