G8 “Justice and Home Affairs” meeting in Munich

Brussels, 23/05/2007 (Agence Europe) - By invitation of the German Presidency, the Justice and Home Affairs Ministers of the countries of the G8 will be taking part in a meeting in Munich (Germany) from the evening of Wednesday 23 May to 25 May. At various sessions on the agenda, which will be attended by the German Federal ministers for home affairs, Wolfgang Schäuble, and Justice, Brigitte Zypries, as well as by Commissioner Franco Frattini, the political decision-makers will review many themes of cooperation, including: recovering financial capital resulting from corruption, the fight against sexual abuse against children, the integration of immigrants, various subjects related to the fight against terrorism (sharing of information, protection of energy infrastructure, the Internet as an instrument of radicalisation and recruitment), strengthening intellectual property rights, the fight against drugs in Afghanistan. The Secretary General of Interpol, Ronald Noble, may also take part in this meeting, in order to present projects the agency is currently working on. (bc)
