15/05/2007 (Agence Europe) - The conciliation procedure on the regulation on non-contractual obligations (ROME II) was due to end on Tuesday evening. A final trialogue, due to begin at 7.00pm, between the representatives of the Council presidency, the EP delegation led by Diana Willis (ALDE, UK) and Commissioner Franco Frattini, will try to reach agreement before the official opening of the conciliation at 8.00pm, when the Conciliation Committee will try to come to an agreement. At the time of going to press, negotiations were expected to be tense on several points: Restitutio Integrum related to road traffic accidents; the definition of environmental damage; unfair trade practices, and others. Several sources have, however, said they were confident a final text could be agreed, thanks notably to the revision clause. (bc)
