First road safety report confirms differences between member states

Brussels, 02/05/2007 (Agence Europe) - The last 12 months have seen an 8% reduction in the numbers of people killed on Europe's roads: 12,000 fewer lives were lost in 2006 compared with 2001. These are the latest figures presented by Commission Vice-President with responsibility for Transport Jacques Barrot on 27 April. Launching the first European Road Safety Day, which will be marked every year on the same date, Mr Barrot said that the EU was able to reach the target set in the 2001 road...
