02/05/2007 (Agence Europe) - Expressing concern over the policy direction that Turkey is currently taking, the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) expressed its strongest disapproval of the arrest of Turkish trade union leaders and several hundred trade union activists commemorating the 30th anniversary of a deadly May Day in Istanbul, in 1977, that left 34 dead. In a press release, ETUC recalls that its members include Turkish trade unions. (gb)
