Environment committee significantly bolsters Commission proposed measures to clean up EU surface waters by 2015

Brussels, 28/03/2007 (Agence Europe) - The European Parliament's environment committee, chaired by Miroslav Ouzky (EPP-ED, Czech Republic) wants the EU to be more resolute in tackling surface water pollution from dangerous substances, as proposed by the European Commission. Members of the parliamentary committee overwhelmingly adopted the report by Anne Laperrouze (ADLE, France) by 50 votes in favour, with none against and one abstention.
