27/03/2007 (Agence Europe) - The European University Association (EUA) is to organise its 4th convention on the future of higher education after 2010, from 29-31 March in Lisbon, Portugal. It plans on this occasion to gather over 700 actors and personalities from higher education circles, as well as Commissioner Jan Figel. Participants will discuss international cooperation and competition, the effectiveness of the Bologna process in the context of the Lisbon strategy, and finally the recent decisions to set up a European Research Council and a European Institute of Technology. The convention will close with a declaration by the president of the European Commission, José Manuel Barroso. Conclusions adopted will be presented to the European ministers during their next meeting in London this May. (gc)
