Berlin declaration, Kosovo, organic production, football, maritime transport and CFSP on mini-session agenda

Brussels, 27/03/2007 (Agence Europe) - MEPs will hold a debate on Wednesday afternoon (28 March) in Brussels at the opening of the two-day plenary mini-session. This debate will provide follow-up to the declaration and its impact on the debate on the Constitutional Treaty in view of the June European Council. Wednesday's debate will be attended by the three signatories of the “Berlin Declaration” Issues on Wednesday afternoon will also include: Kosovo; organic farming; labelling of organic products and the future of the EU's own resources. On Thursday morning, CFSP High Representative, Javier Solana, will hold a debate with MEPs about the Union's foreign policy prospects in 2007. The EP believes that the question of the anti-missile defence shield in central Europe is also expected to be raised at this event. The agenda for this mini-session is as follows:

Wednesday 28 March (from 15: 00H): Declaration of the Council (Ms Merkel) and Commission (Mr Barroso) on the Berlin Declaration (draft in EUROPE 9394); - Further convergence in supervisory practices at EU level (oral question by Pervenche Berès to the Council and Commission); - report by Joost Lagendijk on the future of Kosovo and the role of the EU; - report by Marie-Hélène Aubert on organic production and labelling of organic production; - report by Alain Lamassoure on the EU's own resources; - report by Ville Itälä on 2008 budget guidelines; - joint debate on football (reports by Ivo Belet on the future of football in Europe, and Guisto Catania on security during football matches); - joint debate on maritime transport (reports by Marta Vincenzi on flag state requirements, and Gilles Savary on civil liability and financial guarantees of shipowners; - report by Csaba Sandor Tabajdi on integration of new member states in Common Agricultural Policy (CAP).

Thursday 29 March (from 9: 00H): - Declaration by EU High Representative for the CFSP, Javier Solana, on the EU's common foreign policy prospects for 2007; - Votes. (hb)
