Brussels, 06/03/2007 (Agence Europe) - Without debate on 5 March, the Council decided not to accept all the European Parliament's second reading amendments to a draft regulation on the EU's financial instrument for the environment (Life+) for 2007-2013.
This came as little surprise because the European Parliament rejected the Council's claims to a greater share of managing Life+ (80% of funding), used to back measures and projects to update and develop EU environmental policy and nature protection (see EUROPE 9302). Now that dialogue between the Council and European Parliament has broken down, it has been decided to convene the Conciliation Committee to negotiate a joint text. (an)
