Parliament calls for immediate action on energy price hike damage limitation

Strasbourg, 19/02/2007 (Agence Europe) - In a report adopted on Thursday 15 February in Strasbourg, the Parliament appealed for immediate action to fight against the impact of energy price hikes on the European economy. This report was presented by Manuel Antonio dos Santos (PES, Portugal) and estimated that the EU's dependence on energy imports could increase from the current 50% to 70% in 2030 if nothing was done.
