06/02/2007 (Agence Europe) - The Organisation des Moudjahidine du people d'Iran (OMPI) will have until the end of February to respond to Council arguments for including it on the EU's blacklist of terrorist organisations. On 30 January, the Council of economy and finance ministers said in a press release that it would “provide OMPI with a statement of reasons for maintaining it on the EU's asset freeze list of persons, groups and entities involved in terrorist acts”. The press release adds that it would “give OMPI one month to present its views, together with any supporting documentation”. This decision follows the judgment by the Court of First Instance of the European Communities on 12 December 2006, which annulled a 2005 Council decision to freeze OMPI's assets (see EUROPE 9348 and 9326) (bc)
