Europe hopes to quicken pace of revitalisation of rail sector

Brussels, 31/01/2007 (Agence Europe) - The EU is continuing its progress in revitalising the rail sector. Meeting at today's EurailFreight Conference, Transport Commissioner Jacques Barrot, and German Federal Minister for Transport and Urban Affairs Wolfgang Tiefensee reiterated the importance of an interoperable freight market, which is capable of competing with road freight, and which will develop in line with the requirements of the Lisbon Agenda.
