Commission authorises draft buy-out of Sampo Bank by Danske Bank

Brussels, 30/01/2007 (Agence Europe) - On 30 January, the European Commission cleared the proposed acquisition of Sampo Bank plc, a Finnish banking and investment services provider, by the Danish financial services company Danske Bank A/S. Danske Bank is the largest bank in Denmark and also operates in other Scandinavian countries. Sampo Bank is a fully-owned subsidiary of Sampo plc, a Finnish insurance company.
