Monica Frassoni and Francis Wurtz candidates

Brussels, 06/12/2006 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday the Greens group at the European Parliament decided to present the candidacy of Monica Frassoni for the post of president of the European Parliament. Elections will be on 16 January. The Greens in this way hope to counter the arrangement concluded between the EPP-ED and PES groups on the sharing of the presidency between Josep Borrell (first part of the legislature) and Hans-Gert Pöttering who take over from him in January.
