In-depth investigation into plans by VB Autobatterie to buy FIAMM group's "automotive starter battery" activities

Brussels, 06/11/2006 (Agence Europe) - On 4 December, the European Commission opened an in-depth investigation into plans by the German company VB Autobatterie GmbH to purchase the "automotive starter battery" activities of the Italian group FIAMM.

On the market for the supply starter batteries to the automotive industry, the planned operation will bring about a reduction in the number of viable suppliers for car and lorry builders, which will fall from three to two. Apart from the...
