Hard-won international agreement on limiting bluefin tuna catches

Brussels, 27/11/2006 (Agence Europe) - On Sunday 26 November, after a week of meetings and tense debate in Dubrovnik, Croatia, the 42 Members of the International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT) reached an agreement which they hope will guarantee the survival of bluefin tuna stocks in the North Atlantic and the Mediterranean. “The decisive measures agreed by ICCAT today represent a realistic chance for the gradual recovery of bluefin tuna and, also importantly,...
