Brussels, 27/11/2006 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has approved an aid scheme for the Swedish Post, Posten AB, worth SKR 400 million (€44 million) per year, over the period 2006-2007. Under the scheme, the Swedish authorities intend to compensate Posten AB for the public service cost of supplying basic cashier services throughout Sweden. Posten AB is a limited liability company, wholly owned by the Swedish government. Its activities cover the complete range of services in the postal sector. Basic cashier services are provided by its wholly owned subsidiary SKS AB, whose activities are limited to services of general economic interest. The Commission previously authorised a similar scheme for the period 2002-2005. (cd)
