Strasbourg, 15/11/2006 (Agence Europe) - The European Parliament decided on 13 November to postpone the report by Roselyne Bachelot (EPP-ED, France) on the creation of a European Globalisation adjustment Fund until the session on 29-30 November in Brussels. The delay was proposed by French Socialist MEP Jean-Louis Cottigny, who said that the Committee of Member States' Permanent Representatives (Coreper) had only completed its text on Friday and MEPs had not had time to study it. The request was supported by Ms Bachelot, who confirmed that the text had only become available a few hours previously, and that the latest information showed that the positions of the Parliament and Council had become much closer. Ms Bachelot went on to say that it would be necessary to await the second plenary session of November in the hope that “maybe” agreement would be reached on first reading, to allow the Fund to be operational from the start of next year.
