Brussels, 09/11/2006 (Agence Europe) - To allow Romania and Bulgaria to join the EU as scheduled on 1 January 2007, the EU is giving the two countries a transition period for meeting areas of EU legislation for the safety of farm products of animal origin. The decisions were unveiled by the European Commission and accepted on 8 November by the EU Standing Committee on the Food Chain and Animal Health.
