Brussels, 13/10/2006 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday, during the meeting of Transport Ministers in Luxembourg, more than one and a half years after the initial Commission proposal (EUROPE 8923), the Council adopted the Competitiveness and Innovation framework Programme (CIP) for 2007-2013, taking on board all the amendments voted at first reading by the European Parliament (EUROPE 9203). The CIP's total financial allocation amounts to €3.2 billion including 80%, 10% and 10% earmarked respectively for sub-programmes on entrepreneurship and innovation, intelligent energy and support of ICT (information and communication technology) development. We would note, however, that in order to shed full light on respect of the legislative authority's decision, the Commission hopes that, at the latest by publication in the Official Journal, the budgetary envelope mentioned in the basic act will be expressed in current prices, i.e. €3.621 billion.
