13/10/2006 (Agence Europe) - While Microsoft may feel that the changes made to Windows Vista will be sufficient to allow it to launch its new operating system in Europe at the same time as in the rest of the world (between November and January), the American company must “shoulder its own responsibilities to ensure that Vista is fully compliant with EC Treaty competition rules and in particular with the principles laid down in the March 2004 Commission anti-trust decision concerning Microsoft, “ says the Commission in a press release. It adds that it has not given its “green light” to the marketing of the product about which it had expressed some concern (see EUROPE 9163), and warns that it will closely monitor the effects of Vista on the market.
