04/09/2006 (Agence Europe) - According to a press release the European left reformist think tank set up two years ago by Bruno Liebhaberg, a professor at the Université Libre of Brussels (ULB) and a former advisor to Jacques Delors at the European Commission, has launched a fortnightly newsletter VPE@g-r-e.be, Veille Politique européenne. The press release also indicates that this Belgian group, is part of a network of similar think tanks in other Member States of the European Union and that it is independent of the Socialist Party but close to it in “support for wider reflection on European action”. The press release indicates that the International GRE Committee, co-presided by minister-presidents Charles Piqué and Marie Arena, includes around 30 “key players in the Socialist and European Social Democratic world”, such as the President of the Party of Europeans Socialists (PES), Poul Nyrup Rasmussen MEP, Italian foreign affairs minister Massimo D'Alema and Hungarian counterpart Kinga Göncz, the Spanish minister for justice Juan Fernando Lopez Aguilar, European Commissioner Joaquin Almunia, former European Commissioner Pascal Lamy, director general of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), and former French minister of finance Dominique Strauss-Kahn.
