Ms Merkel tells Pope that Christian values need to be enshrined in Constitutional Treaty - Martin Schulz protests

Brussels, 29/08/2006 (Agence Europe) - German Chancellor Angela Merkel, whose country will hold the Presidency of the Council of the EU in the first half of 2007, has restated that the future European Constitution should contain a reference to Christianity, “because Christianity has deeply influenced our European history”.
