06/07/2006 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has given clearance for planned rescue aid for the Polish bus company, Przedsiebiorstwo Komunikacji Samochodowej w Olkuszu S.A.. The aid is justified by “serious social difficulties” which could cause 111 job losses in a region where the rate of unemployment already stands at 18%. Aid will be granted by the Industrial Development Agency S.A. in the form of a loan under conditions similar to those applicable on the market, the Commission states, adding that the aid will not exceed the maximum aid amount permissible under the formula envisaged in the guidelines on State aid for the rescue and restructuring of companies in difficulty. In six months' time, the Polish authorities are also expected to submit a corporate restructuring plan to the Commission.
