Venezuela officially becomes 5th member nation

Brussels, 06/07/2006 (Agence Europe) - After the extraordinary summit in Caracas on 4 July, Venezuela was officially designated as a new member of Mercosur, the Latin American market that has existed for 15 years between Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay. Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez formally signed the protocol for his country's membership to Mercosur flanked by his counterparts, Nestor Kirchner from Argentina, Lula da Silva from Brazil, Nicanor Duarte of Paraguay, and Tabaré...
