Second Polish quota allocation plan is to take into account data now available on effective emissions during 2005-2007 period

Brussels, 06/07/2006 (Agence Europe) - The first Polish National Allocation Plan for greenhouse gas emissions established for the period 2005-2007 in Directive 2003/87/EC (EUROPE 9224), covers 459 industrial installations. These installations have been allocated 90% of Poland's total annual average allocation, amounting to 213.6 million allowances for CO2 emissions. The remaining 10% of Polish allowances have been allocated to 629 other installations, and their emissions will be included in the Community register by the end of September. Figures were published by the European Commission on 5 July, after verified CO2 emissions appeared in the CITL (Community Independent Transaction Log). Polish allocations for 2005-2007 had been made on the basis of data that were not independently verified. Now that a full set of verified data exists, the Commission expects it to be used as a basis for the next allocation plan covering the period 2008-2012 and will assess all plans in this context.
