Brussels, 07/06/2006 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has cleared the planned acquisition of sole control of Tele Pizza, a Spanish fast food company, by CVC of Jersey, which specialises in managing investment funds. CVC (Jersey) controls a number of companies, including Food Service Project which is mainly active in the Spanish fast foods market, with the brands Zena, Foster's Hollywood, Il Tempietto, Cañas y Tapas, Goly, Nostrus, Tío Tapas and franchises for some of the Kentucky Fried Chicken, Burger King and the Telepizza and Pizza World restaurants and home delivery services. The Commission concluded that the deal would not lead to competition concerns as the parties' joint market share in the Spanish fast food market would not be sufficient to lead to concerns and the parties would continue to face competition from a number of actual or potential fast food competitors in Spain.
