Brussels, 07/06/2006 (Agence Europe) - On 8 June, the European Commission is to adopt, by written procedure, a strategic document on the future of EU external policy and the future role of Europe in the world. In this document, which will be put to the European Council of 15 and 16 June, the Commission will plead, amongst other things, in favour of a flexible and pragmatic approach in cooperation between the Member States and the Commission in order to increase the efficiency and credibility of the EU's external action, rather than to embark in dogmatic or institutional discussions. The President of the Commission, Jose Manuel Barroso, and Commissioner Benita Ferrero-Waldner (external relations) will present the document at a press conference on Thursday.
