06/06/2006 (Agence Europe) - The “Confrontations Europe” group is holding a European Colloquium in Brussels on 8-9 June on a European strategy for the services sector. Among the issues to be discussed are the place of services in world economic competition, relations between a single services market and the European social model, Community market regulation policy. There will also be workshops on transport, information technology, health and social services, public-private partnerships (PPP) and financial services. Employment and Social Affairs Commissioner Vladimir Spidla and German Social Democrat MEP Evelyne Gebhardt, European Parliament rapporteur on the “services” directive will be among those taking part.
