Brussels, 06/06/2006 (Agence Europe) - In April 2006, the industrial production price index increased by 0.8% in the eurozone and by 0.5% in the EU25 compared to March, when there were increases of 0.5% and 0.3% respectively. Compared to April 2005, industrial production prices were up 5.4% in the eurozone and 6.6% in the EU25. In April 2006, compared to the previous month, prices throughout the industry except for energy increased by 0.4% in both the eurozone and EU25. Prices in the energy sector were up 2.1% and 0.7% in these areas respectively and intermediary goods were up 0.8% in the eurozone and 0.9% in the EU25. In both areas, durable consumer goods were up 0.2% whereas investment goods and non-durable consumer goods were up 0.1%. The largest rises were recorded in Greece (+1.3%), Germany and Italy (both +1.0%) and the only falls were noted in the United Kingdom (-0.6%) and Denmark (-0.3%), while prices remained stable in Ireland. At an annual rate, prices throughout the industry, other than energy, were up 2.2% in the eurozone and 2.1% in the EU25, while prices in the energy sector notched up increases of 17.6% and 21.6% respectively.
