Brussels, 30/05/2006 (Agence Europe) - As part of the 2006 European Year of Workers' Mobility, the European Confederation of Executives and Managerial Staff (CEC) held a conference in Vienna on 5 May on 'Enhancing Managers' Mobility and Employability and Mobility - Towards a genuine European Labour Market'. It emerged from the conference that much remains to be done to promote manager mobility, which can be seen as a way of moving up the ladder if it is accompanied with higher salary and a higher position in the hierarchy. Participants called for a mobility charter to be drawn up by companies to deal with security aspects linked to the return of a mobile worker after expatriation or secondment abroad. Participants felt that if workers were not so frightened about mobility, it would be easier to manage company restructuring and if mobility were more developed, it could generate undeniable progress in employment relations.
