15/05/2006 (Agence Europe) - The European Centre of Enterprises with Public Participation and of Enterprises of General Economic Interest (CEEP) has welcomed the communication from the Commission on the future of Europe (see EUROPE 9189). CEEP particularly welcomed the proposals on solidarity, subsidiarity and the involvement of national parliaments. Secretary General Rainer Plassman regrets, however, that “the Commission seems to be very cautious” on the major task face it, that of overcoming “the current stagnancy inside the European Union. I wish that the Commission would be more courageous and go beyond its role as guardian of the Treaty”.
