Commission proposes directive establishing European criminal instrument to fight piracy and counterfeiting

Brussels, 26/04/2006 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday, the European Commission adopted a proposed directive on the fight against infringements of intellectual property laws, modifying the proposal which it had approved on 12 July 2005 (see EUROPE 8989). This new instrument proposed by the Commission "constitutes the criminal plank of the fight against counterfeiting and piracy in Europe", said Commissioner Franco Frattini at a press conference.
