26/04/2006 (Agence Europe) - The European Trade Union Federation - Textiles, Clothing and Leather (FSE: THC) gave its support on Wednesday to the Commission's proposal of 16 December 2005 on indication of country of origin for certain categories of products imported from third countries. A technical meeting is to be held on Thursday within Committee 133, but the FSE: THC is surprised at the opposition expressed by several Member States to a project that would make it possible to fill a legal vacuum, ensure a similar level of obligations for both producers and importers and keep consumers better informed, several representatives of affiliated organisations told the press (EUROPE will come back to this).
