Brussels, 23/03/2006 (Agence Europe) - Jorma Ollila CEO of Nokia and President of the European Round Table of Industrialists (ERT) made an appeal in a press release for the Spring Summit to fight the resurgence of “economic nationalism” in Member States, a nationalism that “reflects the same behaviour that the ERT sought to avoid when it was created in 1983”. Since then, “Europe has come a long way but is threatening to stop now that the need to work together is bigger than ever”. Mr Ollila warned that responsible policy makers “have a duty to strongly resist such moves” and must make their citizens understand that he best way to ensure the future competitiveness and prosperity of Europe is to “build a strongly integrated economic area”.
