06/03/2006 (Agence Europe) - According to Jean Réveillon, European Broadcasting Union (EBU) General Secretary, it is necessary to “broaden the field of application of the new regulations to include the new media sector, which is so highly topical at the present time”. Mr Réveillon, who was speaking at the conference organised in Vienna on 1 and 2 March on the theme “Strengrhening the European Creative Industries in the Light of the i2010 Strategy”, thus said: “It is fundamental for the Directive to define a common denominator to safeguard objectives of public interest such as the protection of minors and human dignity”.
