Brussels, 06/03/2006 (Agence Europe) - The European Commissioner for Fisheries and Maritime Affairs Joe Borg is visiting the United Kingdom on 6 and 7 March. On the occasion, the opening of the World Maritime Technology Conference (WMTC) in London, he explained the state of advancement of the European Commission's work with a view to presenting its green paper on maritime policy, stressing, as a press release indicates, the role of research and training in growth and employment in the sector across Europe. On Tuesday Mr Borg will be in Lancashire, where he is due to visit the port of Fleetwood and talk there with representatives of the local industry, the press release says.
