Brussels, 06/03/2006 (Agence Europe) - Following the failure on 3 March of an conciliation attempt at a meeting between the diplomacy chiefs of the EU-3 (Germany, France and the UK) and the Iran's main negotiator Ari Larijani, the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) held a meeting on 6 March in Vienna to reach a decision on the future of the Iranian nuclear dossier. The Board of Governors was due to examine the latest report from IAEA Director Mohamed El Baradei, who on Monday morning believed that an agreement might yet be possible to avoid recourse to the UN Security Council. Mr El Baradei said that he keenly hoped that a negotiated agreement between Europeans and Iranians on the Iranian programme, in particular the issue of centrifuges for research and development, would some about “in the next week”.
