Brussels, 13/02/2006 (Agence Europe) - The presence of the highly pathogenic avian influenza virus (H5N1) was confirmed on 11 and 12 February on wild swans found dead in Greece, Italy and Bulgaria. Analyses are underway at the Community reference laboratory in Weybridge, United Kingdom, to determine whether Slovenia is the third EU country to be affected by the H5N1 virus strain.
