EU Economic and Monetary Affairs Commissioner Joaquim Almunia will address the EESC on Wednesday on meeting the challenges of economic governance, and a debate on the European Commission's White Paper on the EU's communications policy will be debated on Tuesday. The councillors will also be expressing their views on five own initiative opinions on 1) the role of railway stations in cities and urban areas of the enlarged EU; 2) the impact of international agreements on cutting greenhouse gas emissions on industrial change in the EU; 3) boosting economic governance through reform of the Stability and Growth Pact; 4) the Broad Economic Policy Guidelines for 2005-2008; and 5) the EU's relations with Mexico. The EESC will also examine opinions on energy efficiency and establishing a consolidated common tax basis for company taxation in the EU.
