10/02/2006 (Agence Europe) - On 10 January, the Council adopted without debate two decisions on the Pericles Programme to combat counterfeit euros, extending Pericles (due to expire at the end of last year) into 2006. Pericles has an annual budget of EUR 1 million. A series of amendments are made, increasing EU funding from a maximum of 70% to a maximum of 80%, and foreseeing financial contribution to cross-border cooperation projects involving Europol.
