Brussels, 03/02/2006 (Agence Europe) - Ahead of the Green Paper on securing the EU's energy supplies, expected on 8 March, the European Commission will discuss its proposals laying the foundations for a common energy policy on 8 February. The Commission has also confirmed that it will, on the same day, adopt the strategy to promote the development of biofuels in the EU. The main objectives set by the Commission are stimulating demand and amending the present directive with that in mind, ensuring that these products are not discriminated against by industrial users, developing the supplies of Community raw materials while maintaining the flow of imports (see EUROPE 9119). This initiative follows on from the biomass action plan unveiled last December.
