Appeal ahead of presidential elections of 19 March

Brussels, 29/01/2006 (Agence Europe) - Ahead of the presidential elections of 19 Martin Belarus, the Council of the EU on Monday called upon the Belarusian authorities to ensure that this election "takes place freely and fairly, in line with international standards and in full respect of the commitments made by Belarus within the framework of the OSCE and the UN".
