Brussels, 30/01/2006 (Agence Europe) - On 30 January, the Council of the EU adopted without debate the decision to extend the protocol to the fisheries agreement between the EU and Sao Tomé e Principe from 1st June 2005 to 31 May 2006 (see EUROPE 9085). This extension allows 36 seiners (18 French and 18 Spanish), 2 pole and line vessels (Portuguese) and 25 surface long-liners (20 Spanish, 5 Portuguese) to continue their tuna fishing activities.
