Brussels, 10/11/2005 (Agence Europe) - Javier Solana, EU High Representative for CFSP, will be visiting the Middle East from 11 to 15 November, to confirm the EU's political commitment to the region, a press release states. On 11 November, Solana will attend a working lunch with Prime Minister Siniora in Beirut, then a dinner discussion with the foreign ministers of the G8, the Middle East and Northern Africa taking part in the Forum for the Future in Bahrain. On 12 November, he will meet President Mubarak in Egypt, and Foreign Minister Gheit. On 13 November, King Abdullah II will be his host in Jordan before Solana goes on to Israel where he will meet Prime Minister Sharon and the members of his cabinet, and attend the official commemoration of the 10th anniversary since the assassination of Prime Minister Rabin. On 14 November, in the West Bank, Solana will hold discussions with the president of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmoud Abbas, and Prime Minister Qurei with whom he will mainly discuss an EU third-party role at the Rafah Crossing Point in Gaza (see EUROPE 9063).
