10/11/2005 (Agence Europe) - At a conference on Wednesday organised by the Europe-India Chamber of Commerce (EICC) that he chairs, British Conservative MEP Nirj Deva said: 'We often talk about India as though it is a threat. In a sense that is right, but mainly because the EU is not doing enough to make itself more competitive in a globalised world. But we should be thinking more about the huge opportunities India offers to us, and ways in which we can work with India for our mutual benefit…. We have much to learn from each other, but we must look beyond competition to cooperation. By working together, we can learn much from each other and secure and long-term prosperity. I hope India's growth and success will prompt the EU to undertake urgent economic reform before it is too late.'
